The Chaumont Chestnut Garden Holdall — Waxed Canvas Utility Trug
The Provenance
Named after the historic Château de Chaumont, home to France’s world-renowned International Garden Festival. This substantial, open-top utility holdall is engineered as a modern, hard-wearing interpretation of the traditional English garden trug—designed to move seamlessly from gathering cut flowers to a weekend countryside market.
The Architecture & Versatility
Built with a rigid, wide-mouthed structure, this holdall sits flat and stays open for easy, hands-free loading. While designed with the passionate gardener in mind, its robust layout has made it a favourite for a vast array of country pursuits: from holding equestrian grooming tools and farrier kits to packing countryside picnics and farm-shop market hauls.
The Exterior Pocket Layout: Equipped with deep, gathered elasticated pockets on one end and a slip pocket on the other—perfect for securing water bottles, pruning shears, or small tools—alongside clean slip pockets along one flank for notebooks or plant labels.
The Handles: Long, robust genuine leather shoulder straps, securely fixed with hand-set solid metal rivets to ensure heavy loads are carried comfortably and reliably.
The Interior: A vast, unrestrictive central compartment fully lined with our signature curated cotton textiles, ranging from classic country tartans to beautiful woodland and farmstead motifs.
Materials & Specifications
The Exterior: Heavyweight, weather-resistant waxed canvas that shrugs off damp grass, soil, and showers, cleaning up easily with a damp wipe.
Colour Palette: Handcrafted in Navy Blue, Chestnut, Dark Brown, Dark Green, and Sand (each canvas colour listed individually).
The Details: Hand-cut, heat-branded leather logo patch.
Care Instructions
Waxed Canvas products do not need washing. Washing will destoy the wax layer and ruin your product.
Sponge it lightly or just leave it to dry and brush it off. Simple and sensible. No fuss.
